Types Of Online Casino Games

It is no surprise whatsoever that the online casinos most successful at getting repeat customers are the same online casinos with the best casino games available. There are many different types of online casino games for most players to choose from and a general discussion of the different types is given below.

Slot and Video Poker Machines

Slot and video poker machines have probably become the most popular free casino games in the online context and as a result they are also the most numerous. It is not uncommon for an online casino to have a couple of dozen games that are not either slot or video poker in nature and then close to 50 or even 100 games that fall into one of these two general categories. Slot machines and video poker terminals seem to be made for the online casino and that is why they are so good at attracting players.

There is not that much difference between offline video poker and online video poker as most of the offline video poker terminals are played electronically anyway. However, online slot machines are quite different from their offline counterparts. What you lose in the old school sound and feel of the slot machine, you gain in machine efficiency and the number of spins you can get done per hour.

Card Games

The second most popular category of games in the online casino is card games. Card games are games like blackjack, baccarat and Caribbean stud poker. These are games that are focused on the dealing of cards and feature a battle of wits between the dealer and the player that is playing against them. Online casino card games are no different than their offline counterparts in regards to the house edge that the casino always maintains, but at the same time those games are also quite different in the sense that instead of physical cards and slow dealers, you have automated dealers that allow you to play the games at staggering speeds.

Table Games

Table games are the last category of online casino game to migrate over from the conventional offline casinos and this category includes such casino classics as roulette and craps. The great thing about online table games is that you can often choose between different variants. This for example allows you to play European roulette instead of American roulette and therefore cut the house advantage over you in half.

Online table games also proceed at a much faster pace than their offline counterpart so even though you end up losing the social element to a game like craps, the speed that you can play the Casino Games at is so much faster that most people do not seem to mind at all.

How many different names are you going to ask the same question?

  9. gavb08 Says:

I don't think you will get that information very easily. You will have to go to a online casino, find the software provider (normally listed at the bottom of the page of the online casino), then go to the software provider and see if you supply that information. You might even have to go one step further and look at the auditors report, as they normally have to do a audit on the RNG in order to determine the randomness.

The majority of online casinos will fall under about four software providers, and the rest will have their own software, and its these ones that I think you will have the main problems finding the information you want.

I personally think you are wasting your time, as they will not give you very much information at all.

The luck/skill question splits responders along a very particular axis. Those who know poker (as I do, having been a keen student of the game and player for about 15 years), will tell you with no trace of a doubt, that it is a game of skill. It is a game of skill with an undeniable and significant luck element built-in, which must be accounted for in order to play well.

Those that have never played poker, and do not know the rules, betting system, odds calculation, opponent reading and so forth, will lump it in the stereotypical "gambling" category alongside roulette, blackjack, and other games in which the outcome is fixed by probabilities (and always in favour of the house).

Ever heard of a roulette tournament? Or a lottery championship? Check out winners of the World Series of Poker, from 1970 to 2006. It's no lucky coincidence that Doyle Brunson has won it twice, and Stu Unger three times, against increasingly large fields. They won because they are among the very best and most skilful players

u did the right thing, dont give em out

  18. WooHoo Says:

Poker is definitely a game of skill. The state of California made this ruling already, which is why card rooms are allowed to exist.

However, if you wager on a game of skill, it is still gambling. In poker you are effectively betting that you can outplay other players. If you bet on horses you are betting that because of your good judgment and knowledge of horses, trainers, jockeys, breeding etc. that you can predict the outcome of a race. If you bet on Tiger Woods to win a golf tournament, you are betting that his skill on that given day will be enough to beat the other players.

It doesn't matter what you bet on. If you make a wager on something where you have the opportunity to win or lose money, you are gambling, by definition.

But you are quite right, online poker should be completely legalized, even to the extent of allowing American companies to open their own sites. In fact Harrah's and MGM group recently announced that they would like to see online poker legalized for American companies within the next couple of years.

In a free society it is not the job of the government to tell people what they can and cannot do with their money in the privacy of their own home.

In the typically crazy incompetence of the Bush administration, they passed a law that Bill Frist snuck into an unrelated anti-terror bill that made it harder for American companies to offer online poker. Yet weirdly (and probably due to some bribery along the way) the same anti-gambling bill opened the doors for American companies to offer online horse race betting, almost without restriction. Sending the message that gambling is 'bad' but horse betting is just fine. Weird.

So for my money all online gambling should be completely legal. There is simply no reason for the government to step in and tell people that they cannot gamble at home. Or worse, the government is currently telling people they can gamble at home, but only on certain things. If we can bet horses, do day trading, by lottery tickets, and bet on certain fantasy sports, then there is no logical reason why other forms of gambling should be excluded.

If the government took the position that gambling is so bad and wrong that it needs to be completely outlawed, then they need to ban the lottery, close Las Vegas and Atlantic City, close down all the horse tracks and dog tracks, and close all the casinos in the country. But since this would put over a million Americans out of work, they are just not going to do that. So it seems to me the only sensible path is to legalize all reasonable forms of online gambling, tax it, and regulate it.
